10/25/2014 3 Comments Escape.Yesterday, early in the morning Dylan and I decided to wake up, make a full pot of coffee, pack a blanket and head up to the mountains. The best part was we could dress in jeans and flannels comfortably! Fall is our favorite season and it is so hard to enjoy it when we are surrounded by traffic lights, and concrete. Driving into Big Bear Lake is like driving straight into autumn! The colors of the leaves were so vibrant, brighter than i've ever seen, the streets were filled with fallen leaves and pumpkins were scattered from corner to corner. It felt like home, except still 6 hours away. Anything that feels in the slightest autumnal I am down for! We spent the first part of our day just exploring downtown, it was filled with lots of little shops, and hole in the wall cafes, antique stores, and plenty of other things we didn't quite get to set our eyes on. For the first time in a long time we felt like ourselves again, here we got to just spend time together with no distractions, our phones put away and felt at peace. We had time to spend on each other, ask each other questions and just enjoy the company. Walking through this town gave me a nastalogic feeling, like i was a kid again exploring the mountains. I fell in love with in this tiny town the colors were one reason, this town was covered in every color, nothing about this place was dull! The food would be have to be next we found this new in spot in town called "Big Bear Lake Brewing Co" (thats quite the mouth full) but the food & beer here were DELICIOUS! I highly recommend this place if you are ever in the LA/OC area its about an hour and a half drive up but SO worth it! Plus you would get to see what i'm talking about first hand! And finally, i fell in love with a typewriter, I have had my eyes out for the perfect one and I stumbled upon this one in a little corner antique store tucked behind a building. If only i could have purchased it i definitely would have. This antique store was owned by an elderly man, who was the sweetest and full of conversation I'll definitely be heading back there on our next visit! We just got home and I already wanna go back! After our bellies were full & very happy! We decided to venture off some more & ended up driving around the lake making multiple stops to take pictures & share memories. Today, was nothing short of perfect! We found a small little beach, that had the most beautiful view! (these pictures don't do this scene justice) We stayed a while here, shared conversation and LOTS of laughs. I will never forget this adventure with this man! Its so nice to have someone that i can talk to about our future near and far, in complete confidence. I never want to lose this feeling of security with this man! After this visit to the beach, we headed back to town. Got caramel apples, drank some more coffee,
and headed back to the great OC. A few things that today taught me, is to slow down, take a deep breathe and never take your days for granted! Until next time Big Bear! -K Follow my blog with Bloglovin 10/22/2014 1 Comment October 22nd, 2014Clean Slate So, for my second post on this brand new blog, i considered sharing a side of myself, or to keep it light hearted and doing a fashion post. This next step in my life is a clean slate, much like this outfit. There is no question I LOVE my whites, and neutral tones. I love using white to transition into the fall season. Living in southern California there isn't much weather, let alone is doesn't get amy cooler then 75. Keeping is light and airy is key! So pairing white jeans, with brown ankle booties tie the two seasons together. Keeping it delicate by adding a simple grey v-neck and a few layered necklaces. With a look like this adding a flannel or a leather jacket can transition this day look into a night out attire! I love the edginess that the leather jacket adds to this simplistic look, and the tomboy twist that the flannel compliments. Let me know what you think! -K |
